Program and Job Description:

The program that supports the customer' s internal systems and this group’ s mission is order to detect anomalies happening within their systems and to ensure a secure environment.  This a growing Cyber Security area within the customer and continues to gain more and more notoriety and exposure within the highest levels of the customer.  They are looking for a Senior level, Lead DevOps Linux Systems Administrator.  They have a team of 2 folks that this person would lead and ensure that they are managing these multiple hundreds of servers through their DevOps technologies.

Their environment consists of VMWare ESX, VSphere, and VCenter, RedHat Linux, Ancible, Puppet, Chef, Zookeeper, SAN for several large enterprise enclaves.  The candidate must have excellent listening, writing and collaboration skills, and must have an excellent personality in order to be able to work with the team.  In this role they will be expected to help not only use their RedHat Linux experience, but also be able to use their DevOps experience to help them manage the roughly hundreds of servers and use their scripting experience to help them scale this Elastic-Search environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities will be:
  • Providing senior level administration and engineering support for LINUX Systems
  • Set up and migration from LINUX operating systems to auto-scalable DevOps PaaS platforms
  • Server zoning and virtualization for maximum hardware use and scalability
  • Datacenter experience and the ability to perform manual labor such as server racking, cabling, and labeling, and escorting as required
  • Partnering with 3rd party vendors and support personnel for maintenance, quotes for possible new procurements, and maintenance of latest and greatest market offerings
  • Conducting necessary project planning to ensure organized delivery of products
  • Designing and implementing strategies for data security
  • Working with analytical and investigative tools to enable development of knowledge engineering systems that include link, pattern, and temporal analysis functions
  • Maintaining accurate configuration management records
  • Communicating both verbally and in written format: research discoveries, recommendations, requirements, trends, issues, and concerns as related to system integration, stability, and growth
  • Documenting all code written during the contract period

Required Skills:
  • 10 years of Linux/Unix Systems Administration experience
  • DevOps experience (Ancible, Puppet, Chef, Zookeeper)
  • Scripting experience (Shell, Python, Perl, Powershell)
  • KickStart, Zoning, Clustered environment experience
  • Elastic Search Ecosystem experience
  • Skilled in the deployment and configuration of Linux in a complex environment.
  • Systems Design

  • Java / Software Engineer / Developer background
  • RedHat, Ubuntu
  • Essential characteristics are a high level of attention to detail
  • Possess a high tolerance for schedule flexibility and unexpected urgency
  • Willingness to sacrifice for work hours during holiday and/or weekend is needed
