Kronos Administrator / Infrastructure Analyst

Seattle, WA

Job ID: 129918 Industry: PeopleSoft

Kronos Administrator / Infrastructure Analyst

The client is currently live with Kronos WFC v6.3 globally. They have a variety of projects that are occurring this year including but not limited to upgrading to v8 as well as implementing Kronos in several countries that they are not currently live in yet.   In addition to the Kronos timekeeping system, they also run PeopleSoft HCM v9.2 and are starting their migration to Workday. The team that supports PeopleSoft’ s infrastructure also supports Kronos’ infrastructure. This team has ample PeopleSoft infrastructure expertise but lacks Kronos expertise. They are in need of a resource who has Kronos infrastructure expertise.

The Infrastructure team is looking for someone with Kronos experience so they can get the rest of their team up to speed since the team has a lot of PeopleSoft infrastructure experience but no Kronos Infrastructure experience. This person will likely have trained an infrastructure team who supported a Kronos application in the past.

This resource will come in and start by learning how their hardware is set up. The way the hardware is set up is very complex so there will likely be a bit of ramp up time prior to them being able to hit the ground running with hands on work. There are 70-80 physical servers and then several hundred virtual machines. The majority of their work is with AWS and that is certainly where their work is trending, so this person should have AWS experience.

This person will spend 100% of their time on the infrastructure/hardware/server side of things as opposed to the application side of things. While they will not do any hands-on work with the actual application, a large amount of their work will be troubleshooting and supporting the application team when issues arise so they should have a strong knowledge of the Kronos application.

If this person has experience on the infrastructure side of a Kronos v8 that is a plus as the Kronos v8 upgrade project is one of the several areas they could be useful on. They will likely spend some time spinning up servers and troubleshooting issues with the application team who is doing the v8 upgrade. The actual upgrade of the application on the hardware is not so much a big deal but making sure the pay rules and everything else pans out properly is where the actual work will be. This person will need to be comfortable with troubleshooting from an infrastructure perspective and supporting the application teams.

This resource will need to learn and get familiar with how the client sets up their requirements to adjust the hardware in order to overcome performance challenges that tend to come up. This will include being an expert in Network Security, VPN hardware security, load balancers, as well as network performance. If this person has experience with Virtual Machine that will likely be the determining factor that will they them the job. They really want someone who has hands on experience setting up machines and networks. If this person has done all of these things for a Kronos application, they will get the job.
